This tutorial is for the following Porsche models and years:

 

– 1997 to 2006 Porsche 911 (996) Carrera, 4, S, 4S, Targa and Turbo – years 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006

 

– 1996 to 2004 Porsche Boxster (986) – years 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004

Tutorial Instructions

The battery is located in the front luggage compartment under a black plastic lid (marked with red below):

Step 1. Remove key from ignition
Step 2. Open turn-locks A. Remove plastic lid.

Step 3. Pull off central vent hose B.

Step 4. Important: disconnect the negative (-) ground wire first and put it aside, and then the positive (+) cable.
Step 5. Using a 13mm socket unscrew fastening screw C (picture above).
Step 6. Remove battery

Re-installing the battery
Step 1. Put battery in place
Step 2. Screw in fastening screw C.
Step 3. Important: connect the positive (+) cable first, and then the negative (-) ground wire.
Step 4. Push on central vent hose B.
Step 5. Fit plastic lid. Lock turn-locks A.
Step 6. Enter the radio code.
